This museum houses many of the plaster molds for the sculptures located around the town. Once the artist was satisfied with the design using the inexpensive plaster process, the molds were used as the basis for casting bronze or in the case of marble carving, they would use the wood device in the second picture here known as a "pantograph" to get the proportions exactly identical to the mold.
