This is one of 4 large churches in Verona we paid for admission to. Much of the outside is being refurbished. It is divided into lower and upper individual sanctuaries. Lots of medieval fresoes on the walls that you can walk right up to. The first twelve photos are of the lower space built in the twelfth century. The thirteenth photo is a close up of the area of a fresco that has fallen off the stone. They would apply a very thin coat of plaster and then paint it while it was still wet.
The ceiling in the upper church is an amazing hand crafted wood structure. We have been in a lot of churches in Italy and Spain but never seen anything like this before. In the photo I zoomed in on, you can see some of the 416 images of saints up there. The upper structure dates to the 14th century.
